Halloween

Halloween is coming up soon, and that means it is time for some free candy! Or is it? I am from a small town where I know every single person that lives there. Every Halloween I am able to rack up at least a hundred dollars worth of free candy, plus an apple and an orange from my Grandma. I knew which houses gave to good stuff, which houses gave the cheap stuff, and which houses had the random dude hiding in the bushes ready to scare you silly. I also knew not to go to Bill Remow's house because rumor had it that he greeted you with his assault rifle. I never worked up enough guts to ring his doorbell. I had it made back home for Halloween.

However, I am now in a new world. There is no longer life long family and friends to trick-or-treat with. I no longer know who deals out the king size snickers instead of the snack size. I don't even know if anybody dresses up here. So I am blogging for answers. I need to know what the trick-or-treat hot spots are. I need buddies to get candy with and teach me the routes of Highland park. Heck judging from the cars and houses I expect them to give out candy baskets with hundred dollar bills in the wrappers. And if no one dresses up in this area, please let me know before I am the only one in a Halloween costume.

haha first things first, I'm coming with you. free candy=amazing and I'll definitely agree with you about Highland Park. However, I'm pretty sure the typical Halloween around here consists of girls in skimpy outfits parading themselves around and big parties. The traditional holiday has been transformed to a simple excuse to dress in nothing...and maybe eat some candy? Who knows...it should definitely be interesting though.

I think your thoughts on Halloween represent our move to college on a larger scale. No longer do we know "who has the best candy" of references our step away from what we know and are familiar with. We are in a new city now, and have four years of exploring and learning not just in an academic sense, but in a practical one as well. Hopefully, by the end of our four years here, we will be able to identify the houses with the assault riffles, the house with the best candy, and the houses with the cheap candy. Until then, I think we have a lot of searching, exploring, and TRICK-OR-TREATING to do !!
