9/22/08 Lauer Interview

There are many who may disagree with me about my issue, but too me it was the most important aspect throughout the interview. This man, Lincoln Hall, put his own dreams and goals before his wife and kids. Now, I admire anyone who trains their bodies endlessly to make goals, and I say this beacause I work physically everyday to be prepared for college football. And while my adrenaline rush could possibly lead to some serious side effects, the death rate for college football is much less than climbing Mount Everest. This man has a family. He has teenage sons who will provide him with grandkids, and a wife at home who should have at least another 25 years in her. He has no reason to be risking life or death.
I was blessed to be raised with a close knit family, and two of the greatest impacts on my life are my grandpa's. I could not imagine a world without them. But I will tell you this, I would not respect any man, who puts his mountain quest in front of seeing his wife. He will have lost some respect from his sons, who have heard the words "Your dad is dead". I don't know any man who could even bear the thought of their sons hearing that they have died because he wanted to climb a mountain.
His wife may even question his happiness in life. She could feel like her life is perfect, and suddenly her husband wants to go on a life or death trip. Then she has to hear thouse words, and I just wonder if Lincoln understands what he put his wife through.
I may do some crazy things in my life, but I will always put my kids, and my wife first in life. Everyone should.
